My son is now 26, 27 in January. He is the middle child that had a sister fifteen months older than him and a brother twenty months younger who was born with apnea and reflux. His younger brother was diagnosed with Asperger syndrome later on. He bit his finger till it bleed, banged his head against walls, was so violent that professionals were concerned that he would hurt one of my other children. I NEVER wanted to end his life, I ALWAYS wanted what was best for him and no mater how very hard life was PROTECTED him. Today he is working, driving and living life, he has adapted to his environment and I could not be prouder.
Your whole article resonates, especially your second, "So...." Remember Z. when he was three, banging his head against walls and screaming all day? Such a confident young man, just like L. Loving you, cheering you on, empathising and grieving with you. Cath xx
Very well spoken my lady I have been around parents of autistic children and have seen the incredible parenting going on and what a joy it was to see. Keep putting the word out there until others come to the realisation
Thank you for this. May I link to this if I come across discussions in linkedin autism groups I belong to?
